Makhzoumi Foundation at the "Climate Change and Environmental Challenges" Press Conference
The Makhzoumi Foundation works, since establishing it in 1997, in the framework of protecting and preserving the environment through its agriculture / environment. Accordingly, it follows-up on the various environmental activities that take place where it responded to the invitation to attend the press conference titled "Climate Change and Environmental Challenges", organized by both the Office of the Minister of State for Administrative Development and the European Union mission in Lebanon to celebrate the opening of the laboratory of solid waste in the Abbasieh and Ansar. The conference was held at Kamel Jaber Cultural Center in Nabatiya (South Lebanon) on January 15, 2010, in the presence of Minister of State for Administrative Development, Mohammed Fneish, European Union Ambassador Patrick Laurent, the representative of the Minister of the Environment in addition to a number of MPs, ministers and embassies, mayors, and representatives of official bodies and civil society.
The words during the conference pointed to the importance of the issue of solid waste management, which reflects positively on the protection of the environment and improves the daily lives of citizens.
The conference was preceded by the opening of the Center for the Sterilization of Infectious Medical Wastes in Abbasieh, and the opening of the Center for Treatment of Solid Wastes by sorting and composting, in Ansar; both towns are in South Lebanon.
It is worth mentioning that Makhzoumi Foundation was a pioneer in raising the issue of carbon emission emphasizing the need to reduce it as it is one of the main reasons for the “Climate Change and Global Warming” phenomenon that threatens the environment all over the world.
