At the “Live Lebanon" Initiative (LIVE LEBANON) Press Conference
Makhzoumi Foundation was a pioneer in applying the principle of partnership between the civil society and the local authorities, for the benefit of the society as a whole. In this context, the Makhzoumi Foundation President, Mrs. May Makhzoumi, accompanied by the "Awareness" and "Agriculture/Environment" Programs Manager at the Foundation Eng. Sallama Namani, attended the press conference organized by the UNDP - the Live Lebanon initiative (LIVE LEBANON), on June 28, 2010, at the headquarters of the Press Syndicate.
The conference included the announcement of a number of projects implemented within this initiative by Lebanese expatriates in the South, the North and the suburbs of Beirut, pointing out the significant and effective role of the Lebanese expatriate in the process of financing and supporting development in the Lebanese regions, and in creating strong links between the Lebanese expatriate and his mother country.
This initiative reflects the principles of partnership among the civil society, the local authorities, the private sector and the Lebanese immigrants; it also facilitates contact between the Lebanese expatriate and the more disadvantaged areas in Lebanon in order to support local development.
