"Think Before You Throw"
 
Under the scope of its "Agriculture/Environment Program" that implements environmental projects and activities, Makhzoumi Foundation represented by the Program’s Projects Coordinator Engineer Nidal Al-Hashem, participated at the launching of an awareness campaign on the importance of waste sorting at source, under the slogan "Think Before You Throw", at UNESCO Palace - Beirut, on July 13, 2010. This campaign is part of the Solid Waste Management Program that is funded by the European Union and implemented by the Arc En Ciel Association and the Sustainable Environmental Solutions Company (SES), under the management and supervision of the Office of the Minister of State for Administrative Development Affairs.

The ceremony included speeches for each of the Minister of State for Administrative Development Affairs, Mohammed Fneish, and the President of the European Union Delegation in Lebanon Patrick Laurent, the Solid Waste Management Program Manager, Ms. Roula Duggan Qabbani, and the representatives of the Minister of Environment and the Minister of Interior and Municipalities.

The words pointed out the importance of the awareness campaign on waste sorting at source, on different levels: developmental, cultural, environmental and economic; it was focused on the importance of cooperation between the various administrative departments and the ministries and the civil society associations in Lebanon within this context, so as to preserve the beauty of Lebanon and to ensure a healthy environment for the future generations.
