- Two projects entitled "Basic Bee-keeping Skills Training for Women" were implemented in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan in Lebanon with the following main objectives : providing opportunities for women to generate income and empowering them with self-confidence to play a productive role in their societies. The first project ( in 2003 ) targeted 100 ladies in five different locations/centers in Akkar and the second ( in 2005 ) , 140 ladies in seven locations in Southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley. The scope includes holding training sessions (theoretical and practical) on bee-keeping skills and then providing them upon termination, with hives and tools for starting their production. The needed equipment for honey extraction and maturation are also offered to those centers, whereby the women beneficiaries, can prepare and package their produce for selling.
