Mr. Fouad Makhzoumi

From an early age it became apparent to me that, in order to build a nation, we Lebanese cannot define ourselves solely by our sects, social standing, or our political ideologies. Rather, we must be driven by a common factor: we must find unity through the greater sense of belonging to our beloved Lebanon. I, like many, have met many challenges in my life. For me, meeting and overcoming these challenges has been integral in shaping my identity, in fueling my patriotism, and in cementing the importance of national unity. I continually strive to share this vision of Lebanon and, in doing so, I have found a true sense of purpose: to seek a social identity and spirit of national unity beyond the limitations of sectarianism.

I believe that the work of the Makhzoumi Foundation is critical to helping put this vision forward. In each citizen who is able to take advantage of the Foundation’s programs I see my dream of one nation with many peoples moving one step closer to realization. I believe that this is the best legacy that I can offer my country. Supporting the work of the Foundation is, I believe, a duty, a duty that must be instilled in every Lebanese: the duty to one’s homeland.
